Adventurer-Pathfinder Induction Program Unites Churches in South Tarawa and Betio

Korobu Church, South Tarawa – Sabbath, April 12, 2025

In a colourful and spirit-filled gathering, Adventurers and Pathfinders from across South Tarawa and Betio came together this past Sabbath for a memorable Induction Program hosted at the Korobu Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The atmosphere was electric with excitement as the program commenced with a ceremonial marching in of flag bearers, drawing a wave of reverent silence and admiration from the audience.

As the bearers entered, the congregation—comprised of Pathfinders, Adventurers, church members, and families—rose to their feet in unified respect. This symbolic gesture marked the official opening of the event, setting the tone for a spiritually uplifting afternoon.

Following closely behind were members of the rostrum party, who took their places on the platform. With the audience still attentive, the Pathfinder and Adventurer Pledges and Laws were solemnly recited by the young participants, reaffirming their commitment to faith, duty, and service.

The heartfelt delivery was then followed by the theme song, sung with passion and unity, echoing through the church and reinforcing the spirit of the occasion.

The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Taaua, the Betio District Minister, who greeted the crowd warmly and praised the dedication of the young people and their leaders. His words acknowledged the hard work and faith it takes to grow spiritually in today's world, especially for young Adventists.

A prayer followed the welcome, asking for guidance and blessings upon the newly inducted members. Then came a brief but impactful message from Mr. Tekarimwi Bita, Associate Director of Youth and Pathfinder Ministries. His address challenged the youth to live out the values they profess and reminded them of the significant role they play as young leaders in the church and community.

The highlight of the day—the induction ceremony—began shortly afterward. A specially chosen group of Pathfinders and Adventurers took center stage, each stepping forward to read from the induction requirements. With each reading, a candle was lit, symbolizing the light of Christ and the call to shine that light in the world. The glow of the candles, paired with the solemnity of the vows, created a poignant moment that captured the spiritual depth of the occasion.

In a first for the local churches, the entire ceremony was streamed live on both Facebook and YouTube, allowing families, friends, and supporters both near and far to witness the event in real-time. The online broadcast extended the reach of the program and highlighted the growing use of digital platforms in church engagement.

The Adventurer-Pathfinder Induction Program at Korobu was not just a formal ceremony—it was a celebration of faith, unity, and purpose. With the support of their leaders and communities, these young Adventists are now officially commissioned to walk the path of discipleship, service, and Christian growth.

As the candles flickered and the final benediction was given, it was clear that a new chapter had begun—not just for the inductees, but for the entire Pathfinder and Adventurer family in South Tarawa and Betio.
