The Seventh-Day Adventist Church Pays Tribute to Late Mr. Tiarite Kwong for His Exceptional Contributions to the Church and Community.
March 7, 2025 – Tarawa, Kiribati

The President of the Kiribati Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Taabua Rokeatau has shared a heartfelt condolence message following the passing of Mr. Tiarite Kwong, a talented businessman known for his generosity, passion for helping others, and exceptional contributions to the Adventist Church and community.
In a tribute broadcast over Hope Radio and National Radio, the President highlighted Mr. Kwong’s remarkable ability to identify needs and his willingness to provide support where it was most needed.
Mr. Kwong’s legacy includes bringing live television services to the Adventist boarding school at Kauma, Abemama, free of charge. This was a significant contribution that improved the quality of education for students, offering them access to valuable resources and information from around the world. Additionally, he provided the school with much-needed internet service, further enhancing the educational experience.

In one of his most recent and noteworthy endeavors, Mr. Kwong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Adventist Administration, pledging to provide a free channel, Channel 2, through his Kiri-One TV service to broadcast Kiribati Hope’s new Hope Channel television programs. In return, he arranged for his television service to use the 50-meter tower of Kiribati Hope to install an antenna, a collaboration that will expand the reach of the Adventist message throughout the nation.
In his tribute, Pastor Taabua expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Kwong’s wife, Obera, and their children, family, and friends. He acknowledged the profound loss felt by all who knew Mr. Kwong and prayed for God’s peace and comfort to surround his loved ones during this challenging time.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Tiarite Kwong,” the President stated. “He was not only a talented and considerate businessman but also a person with a true passion for helping where and when it mattered most. His contributions to our church, particularly his work with the school in Kauma, will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and pray that God’s peace will guide them through this difficult time.”
Mr. Kwong’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and service to the community will continue to inspire those who knew him. His vision and efforts to improve communication and education in Kiribati will have a lasting impact, and his contributions will be remembered with gratitude for many years to come.
